Wojciech Długosz – Dj Krime
Mr Krime was born as Wojciech Długosz in 1978. He started learning to play the violin and piano at 7, and remained faithful to those instruments for 12 years. As a DJ and producer, he has been present on the musical scene since the mid-90s, and was a pioneer of Polish turntablism.
He earned the title of champion of Eastern Europe twice (2001, 2002) after participating in the Vestax Extravaganza competition, and he also won the first ITF Polish championship (International Federation of Turntablism) in 2003. He graduated from the Dublin Red Bull Music Academy in 2001. He also collects records and runs workshops for young apprentices in deejaying. Mr Krime constantly releases new mixtapes which consist of other people’s songs that were selected, complied and combined into sets by his DJ skills. His best-known mixtapes include Krime Story and Music for Night People (created together with Daniel Drumz). Recently, after a long break, Mr Krime posted another mixtape on Mixcloud titled Dusty Digital. On this mixtape, one can hear the author’s liking for the swaying, pulsing 70s – a lot of soul and funk. Mr Krime seems to be fond both of horn sections and antique synthesizer lines. Dreamy R&B is blended with comparatively more catchy soul. At times he reaches for Jamaican music – reggae or dancehall.
