Lora Szafran
Since 1987, she has been recognized as one of the most outstanding Polish jazz vocalists. In 1986, Lora graduated with honors from the Jazz and Contemporary Music Department of the Academy of Music in Katowice. While she was still a student, she collaborated with the leading jazz group Walk Away. In 1984, she won the 1st prize at the International Meetings of Jazz Vocalists in Zamość. Since 1988, she has collaborated with one of the best acoustic jazz groups, New Presentation. She recorded two albums with this group: „Lonesome Dancer” (recognized as the jazz album of 1989) and „You’ve Changed (1993). In vocalism, Lora Szafran is not limited to jazz music only. In her career, she has repeatedly participated in international song festivals, winning the following festivals: Sopot 90 – Grand Prix and Amber Nightingale, Bregenez – Austria 90, Cesme – Turkey 91. The result of her activity in pop music are two albums: „Up the head” (1991 ), „Only Chopin” (1994). Recently, she has been collaborating with Włodzimierz Nahorny, the result of this cooperation is the album „Śpiewnik Nahornego”.
